Round Valley Learning Academy: Full-Time Student Program
At Round Valley Learning Academy (RVLA), our full-time program provides a complete, well-rounded education that meets or exceeds Utah Education Standards while honoring the individuality, curiosity, and unique strengths of each learner. We blend learner-led academics, hands-on projects, and real-world experiences to create a personalized and engaging education.
Academic Core
Our curriculum is aligned with Utah’s K–12 academic standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Students progress at their own pace using high-quality, adaptive learning programs and resources, including Lexia for language arts and Khan Academy, DreamBox, and Synthsys for math, alongside teacher-led instruction and small group learning. Core subjects are integrated into cross-disciplinary projects that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application.
Supplemental & Enrichment Learning
In addition to core academics, full-time students participate in a range of enrichment courses and experiences that meet state standards in the arts, physical education, and life skills, including:
- Mindful Movement & Physical Education – Movement, fitness, coordination, and healthy living.
- STEM & Technology – From coding and robotics to hands-on engineering and digital design.
- Visual & Performing Arts – Drawing, painting, music, drama, and creative expression.
- Outdoor Skills & Nature Studies – Environmental science, entomology, survival skills, and stewardship.
- History, Culture & Civics – Projects that explore historical events, cultural traditions, and civic responsibility.
Personalized Learning Plans
Each student receives an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) developed in collaboration with families, teachers, and the student. ILPs outline academic goals, enrichment opportunities, and personal growth targets, ensuring every learner is challenged and supported at their unique level.
Experiential & Project-Based Learning
RVLA emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-driven projects that build mastery and confidence. Students work on individual and group projects that may include scientific experiments, entrepreneurial ventures, historical reenactments, creative writing anthologies, and community service initiatives.
Character & Leadership Development
Through our school-wide “I AM” theme, students cultivate self-awareness, responsibility, kindness, and resilience. They engage in team-building activities, goal setting, reflective practices, and service projects to strengthen both character and community connections.
Assessment & Progress Tracking
We use a combination of formative and summative assessments, including Utah state-approved testing, to track student progress. Academic growth, project completion, and personal development goals are documented and shared with families regularly.
Family Partnership
We believe parents are an essential part of the educational journey. We provide consistent communication, opportunities for parent involvement, and workshops to support at-home learning.
Compliance & Standards
All academic content is fully aligned with Utah State Standards and meets the eligibility requirements for Utah Fits All scholarships. Students receive instruction across all required subject areas, ensuring they are prepared for future educational opportunities and life beyond school.
